FHE

At BYU-Idaho we are put into Family Home Evening groups.  We are put into these groups and get together every Monday night and do fun activities to help fellowship.  One of our first activities was going to the nearby sand dunes in Rexburg.  We buried one of our brothers in the sand and had some fun burning tumbleweed. All of these pictures were taken by my roommate Allison

it looks like snow but its not

glow

Last week my roomies and I participated in the BYU-I glow run, a 5K race that begins at 9pm and throughout the race they spray glow in the dark paint on you so you glow in the black light, it was a ton of fun and I'm so glad I got to do it with all of my lovely friends.

Lynelle and I stuck together throughout the race.
She is my room- roommate and I just love her to bits.

after the race we decided to have a sleepover and moved all of our mattresses to the living room and watched gilry movies and painted our nails. It was a fabulous way to spend the weekend.

Im back

Hi friends!

I did it. I completed my goal of writing everyday for a whole month.  It felt good!! But now what do I write about?

School is going great! I am really beginning to love it here. I have a sense of purpose and commitment and it feels great!  I miss my Kansas friends and family more than I can say, but I know why I am here and I have an understanding as to how blessed I really am!

I have met so many wonderful people here. And I can't wait to tell you more about my adventures!

Day 31

Day 31, Friday: A vivid memory

Its not very vivid, but I have this memory of being at our old house.  I was four I think...It is hazy, but for some reason I think back to it a lot.  My sister and her friends were all pulling grass and blowing on it to make a loud whistling noise.  I tried and tried but couldn't do it.  I watched all her friends run around with their blades of grass.  I stepped with my velcro tennis shoes and white lace socks on the small brown posts that outlined our  yard and went to the top of the little hill I remember standing, looking at the blade of grass and throwing it out of frustration.  I looked up and saw the sunset.  I remember what it looked like, and I remember how I felt, but thats about it.  I felt so calm and peaceful, and I forgot those other kids.  I felt like Belle on Beauty and the Beast when she sang "I want adventure in the great wide somewhere"  I just remembered bits and pieces.  but I like that one a lot :)

Day 30

Day 30, Thursday: React to this term: Letting Go

Letting go. I think of the past and the raw feelings associated with it.  I think of holding on to things, things that have hurt, damaged or scarred.  Then I think of release, of moving forward and deciding to be happy because of the beautiful hope of the future, instead of dwelling on the hardships of the past.

Day 29

Day 29, Wednesday: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories.

BRAVE by Sarah Barellis.

VANILLA TWILIGHT by Owl City

DREAM by Pricilla Ahn

RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE by Jesse Booth

I love music. It is so powerful and amazing and I just love it.  These five songs have impacted me in so many ways, and bring back so many wonderful memories. I love this post idea.

1. Brave.  I love this. My sister and I discovered it together and whenever I hear it I think of her.  We love it, and I love her. She helps me move forward and be brave with all these new things and she lets me be my crazy goofy self, which I really appreciate :)

2. Vanilla Twilight.  When I was in tenth grade, I had a friend named Mara. She was an exchange student from Germany.  The week before she left for home, we sang this in my car to one another. I love her and miss her so much, and appreciate her everyday

3. You're the Inspiration. This one means a lot.  This is a song I danced to for the very first time with a very special person in my life.  It makes me think of how open and how trusting I was and it makes me feel very happy.

4. Dream. I think of my dad when I hear this.  I think of my childhood and what it has meant to me.

5. Right where you are.  This is wonderful. My EFY roommate in 2012 named Jesse performs this song.  When I hear it I am reminded of her wonderful example and unique shine.
