Something you should know about me

A good song can make me cry. Pretty much any meaningful lyric can make me think of something or someone that I miss or love or cherish in someway...and I cry.

an example.
"giving up" by ingrid michaelson makes me think about someone that hurt me that I tried very hard to see me the way I saw them...and now I have to let them go

'Cause I am giving up on making passes

and I am giving up on half empty glasses

and I am giving up on greener grasses

I am giving up

another:
"Vanilla twilight" by Owl City makes me think of my lovely friend Mara who was here from Germany as a foreingn exchange student who I consider my ture best friend. We sang this song so loud in my car the day she left

When violet eyes get brighter
And heavy wings grow lighter
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again
And I'll forget the world that I knew
But I swear I won't forget you
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past
I'd whisper in your ear:
"Oh darling I wish you were here"

"I won't give up" by Jason Maraz makes me think of a wonderful chapter in my life with a dear friend that makes me smile when I think of all the memories, but then sad when I think of the fact that we kind of did give up on our relationship when things got rough.

I won't give up on us

Even if the skies get rough

I'm giving you all my love

I'm still looking up

"Somewhere only We Know" -the david archuletta version  Reminds me of my sister and I and how we were so incompatable when she lived at home, but then when she left how we became so close, and we can now look back and see things differently in a way only we can know.

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Those are only four of the songs that really get me.  I guess I'm sort of a hopeless romantic when it comes to inspired lyrics and I basically relate every aspect of my life to sappy songs. which is something I like

I'm sorry if this post was a little much.
But I am in love with music that makes a person feel.
And I thought I would share some of those with you

Tis the season

I have been so lazy! I have been so blessed this holiday season to carol with my choirs and spread Christmas cheer! It's been lovely. So here is a recap of my Christmas festivities:

My family and I decorated our lovely tree and house with pretty lights. It's so fun looking at all the crafts and ornaments we have made

I Caroled with my choir and ips class to a lot of nursing homes and parties, I loved every minute of it.

I rang the bell for the Salvation Army at Dillion's with a group of ladies I volunteer with and mentor. It was cold. I ended up babysitting the bucket when all the girls moms came and picked them up, and the Salvation Army guy was late. But besides that it was a great Time and no matter how many times those girls sang the 12 days of Christmas, I was happy to be a part of it

I helped a club at my school babysit kiddos so the parents could go Xmas shopping. It was a long day but I enjoyed it enough.

Last but not least we had a lovely Christmas Eve party with my family! I love them. They are so funny. I even made a video of their hilariousness, it will be up soon!

I hope your Christmas season was wonderful!

42 minutes

So I'm just sitting here in my aide hour. It's basically a study hall

What I have done in the past 42 minutes:
>>alphabetized file folders
>>had one delicious cinnamon gram cracker
>>read and journaled about my novel for English (the color purple--I don't recommend it)
>>looked at my sister and I's Pinterest board and literally almost peed from laughing
>>listened to the poetry that is Ingrid Michelson
>>played phase 10 on my iPod and WON

This is my life. And I love it.

Future is bright

"The future is as bright as your faith" ~Thomas S. Monson

I love this quote because in this moment, everything can seem as though its crashing around you...and your future can only be the same...but no! No. The future is so beautiful and bright because it hasn't happened yet. And you can create it any way you would like... If we have the faith to do so.

honor bee

Yesterday was my very last Young Women in excellence. I realized this after the fact. Young Women in excellence is a program that the youth ladies put on to show their growth in the personal progress program.  I love it every year.

Last year I was just about to finnish the program, which I since have. But even since then I have been able to complete the Honor Bee, which is an optional achievement you can earn. In order to recieve it, you must complete 40 hours of service, some of which you mentor another young woman in their Personal progress program.

I was excited to recieve my bee...but when I bore my testimony about Personal Progress, I realized how much it really has helped me become who I am and my desires for my future. I am so thankful for this program. I love it.

I think I will start it again.

because lets be real...I am so not done progressing.

baby its cold

Mitten tutorial!
I love this and its so simple and fun. takes less than 20 minutes.
1. *find an old sweater no one will miss

2. *Trace the outline of your hand on a piece of paper and cut it out

3.*pin the paper mitten to your sweater

4.*cut out (both layers of the sweater)
repeat for your other hand
TIP: make the bottom of your mitten the bottom of the
sweater then you don't have to hem or anything.

5.*sew the two pieces together for each mitten

6.*turn right side out and you've got cute mittens!

point

I have missed December.
No snow in Kansas yet, but I am hopeful!

...you know...

Life can just be absolutely lovely.
and then it can just be so hard.

just like that.

You are chipper and everything is good you feel...

and then it all just comes spiriling down.
at least thats how I can see it sometimes.

But I suppose that's how life is supposed to be.  What would the point be if everything were good always? then we wouldnt really see the good at all would we?
